With 2013 coming in a week, I started thinking about how 2012 has gone. In so doing, I reflected on the things I have done well and those that haven’t gone as well. Sometimes thoughts are best expressed through a song, so I dedicate this to all those looking forward to next year and bigger and better things. This song is called “Cough Syrup” by Young the Giant and I first heard it sung by a contestant on NBC’s The Voice. The lyrics aren’t direct and are dark, but I think the hope the song reflects is captured in the first line “Life’s too short to even care at all.” My interpretation: In living and doing, don’t be so careful that you don’t act. Don’t worry so much that you don’t do.
